Administrator and Alternate Administrator Training Requirements (Per Texas HHS 26 TAC §558.259)

In addition to the qualifications and conditions described in §558.244 (relating to Administrator Qualifications and Conditions and Supervising Nurse Qualifications),
a first-time administrator and first-time alternate administrator must complete a total of 24 clock hours of educational training in the administration of an agency before the end of the first 12 months after designation to the position.

After completing the initial 24 hours of educational training
either prior to or during the first 12 months after designation,
an administrator and alternate administrator must
complete the continuing education requirements in each subsequent 12-month period, as specified in §558.260

educational training before the end of the first 12
months after designation to the position.

The 24-hour educational training requirement must be met through structured, formalized classes, correspondence courses, competency-based computer courses, training videos, distance learning programs, or off-site training courses.
(26 TAC §558.259(e)) -
A first-time administrator and alternate administrator must not apply the HHSC Presurvey Training toward the 24 hours of educational training required.

After completing the initial 24 hours of educational training either prior to or during the first 12 months after designation, an administrator and alternate administrator must complete the continuing education requirements in each subsequent 12-month period, as specified in §558.260 (relating to Continuing Education in Administration of Agencies).
